I though that if any chars (< or <?) were inside a <PRE> and
</PRE> then they are not interpreted as HTML markup. Thats
the idea of Pre-formatted and hence the use of them to
enclose code. Or am I wrong on that?
I'll check later at home in an O'Reilly HTML book what it
says about the tag.
