Hello Daniel,

Thank you for the help but it didn't work. I exec the command
/sbin/insmod parport_pc, the shell returned me a prompt on the next line
but when I ran printtool again it still couldn't find a port (lp0, lp1
or lp2). Do you have any other ideas? I have to get printing working
else I'm stuck with WIN98 for all my printing leaving Linux no more than
a plaything really. Printing works just fine under Win 98 so it cannot
be a faulty port but rather something I haven't set up properly.

insmod parport_pc

should get you out of trouble...
