Typically, Red Hat systems use 'pump' as the dhcp client. It's a lighter
weight verison of dhcpcd. It (pump) does not work with all dhcp servers,
I've had better all-around success with dhcpcd (particularly with a
particular dhcp server setup from MicroSilly). Since it's the latter
that is not working, I would not expect you to have any more success
with pump, unfortunately.
As far as I know, they are your only two real options under linux. :-(
(NOTE: I'm only supplying information on options here. I would like to
hope you're not completely doomed, because I, too, want to get ADSL at
home as soon as I can.)
