Sounds like you need an ethernet connection between your connected MS
box and your debian box. Better still, make the debian box the connected
one, and use ip-masquerading for the MS box (still need that ethernet
connection though).

If you at least want to get modutils-2.3.20 working, it would be useful
for you to know that you won't have to download any extra packages from
unstable to get it to compile and install.
