Just tried it here, simlinks work OK on IE 5.5 (NT) on a legit a/c or a
correctly set up anonymous ftp machine.
It may depend on the 'Doze platform. IE 5.5 comes with its own FTP
(Hummingbird's I think, which is BSD)
