So why is it that so many of us are having troubles
finding/getting/configuring a secondary DNS or MX host.

I use granitecanyon as a secondary but would like to have a secondary MX.

So what is stopping us setting up a box somewhere and providing a service
for a small fee per year (say $20). We offer secondary DNS only, just suck
your zone records and a secondary MX.

Just need someone to swap the tapes and have a machine on hot standby.

The main problems I see are finding a site that is affordable. You want
someone to provide a CAT5 cable and a finger to push the reset switch, and
thats it. Back it up over the network. Not easy to find.

Other issue is address space. Once you have 1000 people with address
entries for you its not so easy to kill the service or move the box to
someone else who has a different address range.

I just found www.easydns.com who provide exactly what we are after for $50
a year (USD$24.95). Would have to better that service wise or price. I
doubt you could beat their setup. Is $50 a year a reasonable price?

Of course we could all do it for each other.

Thoughts?
