how many times do ppl say 'it will never happen to me'???

a power supply blew in a linux box and took out a harddrive with
it.... well sorta
the partition table no longer has a bootable partition - weird.
i can mount /dev/sda2 no probs but the info i really need is on /dev/sda1.

fsck.ext2 /dev/sda1 gives 'bad magic number' (if i could cut'n'paste i
would) try a different superblock eg e2fsck -b 8193 /dev/sda1
this doesnt work either.

can anyone shed some light?
