Terry, you've just listed the two most widely used and understood ways of
accessing information in a database from an Apache-based web server.
It's probably best to sort out the problem with using these than to deviate
and use something for which less people can help out.
There are *definitely* enough people on the list who know this process
intimately enough to help you, too. :)
