I think that the problem here is that the Linux partition is >1024 cylinders. LIO
needs the kernel to be below 1024 cylinders to be able to load it. Two solutions:

1. Download and install a new version of LILO. This could allow you to load the kernel
from a high cylinder. Since your box is so new, I am assuming that the BIOS would
support the stuff to load high cylinders(still haven't really understood the details
of this yet). I have tried it on some older boxes and it would not work.

2. Use this only if 1 does not work coz it is..... well.... ugly. Make a teeny
partition (6mb or so) at the begining of the hardisk. Make the mountpoint of this
/boot. This will ensure that the kernel will always be below the 1024th cylinder.

Ermmmm... you actually need'nt. Just use the fdisk uitility on every Microsoft
Recovery Disk:

        FDISK /MBR

This would wipe out Lilo but would still leave Linux on the drive.

What choice do most of us have? I just hope Wine is getting better by the day.

Yeah! Especially if you listen to MS Tech Support. They probably have a recorded voice
that tells to to reinstall the machine. But if you know your registry shit well, it
might save you a few reinstalls.

But it is good to reinstall every year at least, the darned OS just runs slower and
slower as time goes by.

Could you recompile the kernel for that? I have never ventured away from i386
territory, so I am not sure.
