It's just been pointed out to me that this is in fact absolute codswallop,
and X has had keyboard-mouse support for yonks. Must've been reading the X4
release notes upside down...

Crtl-Shift-Numlock will allow you to use the number pad to control the
cursor. + to click (and a whole bunch of other keys to swap mouse buttons,
etc).
