Delphi from Borland on Windoze (soon to be Kylix on Linux)
uses Pascal. It is quite a nice, clean and relatively fool-proof
language, and it supports a good object oriented pardigm.
I find I can whip up a Delphi (read: Pascal) proggie about
5 times faster than a C++ one.

And for the record, I can whip up a great O-O perl souffle
about 20 times faster than a C++ one.

For those of you who complain that C++ has too many
gotchas, please read Stroustrup's books on the language -
he designed and wrote it. Understanding his philosophy of
language design goes a long way towards understanding the
language itself.

P.S. Do *not* misjudge me from my email headers! I'm overseas
and forced to use a Windoze box. My My My ... does it suck! After
using Linux for years, I had forgotten how cluncky, buggy and
slow the behemoth O/S really was for simple day-to-day tasks.
I can hardly wait to dump it!!
