i was under the impression that pcmcia drivers are needed, then the pcmcia
modem is detected on COM X (cuaX)
Ie, pcmcia only needs a driver to interface with the actual interface, once
thats done, its a standard modem.
Just a thought.
/avant.

Subject: [SLUG] pcmcia modem under mulinux
I am going to try to use my pcmcia modem on my laptop with
muLinux. It seems like mulinux only comes with ethernet pcmcia
driver modules.
Assuming that this is the case, I plan to do:
1. get 2.0.36 pcmcia modem module(s) from my old rh5.2 cd,
2. try to modprobe them in mulinux.
3. may have to recompile 2.0.36 kernel to accept pcmcia modem
modules, transfer this to mulinux, redo step 2.
Will this work?, is this necessary?
If I can successfully load the appropriate driver module,
is it then just a matter of running pppd pointed at the appropriate
serial device, like for an external modem?
Any pointers, tips, urls etc
