Hi All,

Thanks to Anand and Crossfire. I have downloaded and saved rfc2068 &
rfc2616. Both answered my question fully. Thanks heaps. It would be a
BIG printout. I must get that laptop for bedtime :-)
Now why did I want to know....

Well its 1:15 am so I'll tell you in detail :-) I'm now heading off
tomorrow to a National Conf in Bathurst at which the Aust Speleo
Federations new web-based Karst Index Database is being released. (Karst
refers to landscapes tat have been formed from solutional action rather
than erosional and the KID lists over 6,700 caves in Australia with ~500
data fields) It has been in testing testing for a many weeks and
tomorrow I will restrict the allowable IP address that it can be
accessed from to the conference venue. The 401 ErrorDocument directive
has been set to return a web page to inform users who have helped with
the testing as to why it will not work tomorrow - a more polite and
detailed explanation.
The database runs on YourWeb run by Chuck Dale (Linux/Apache) and uses
MySQL and very nice OO-Perl scripts written by Praxis Services (Rick
Welykocky).

The tender for this database written by Jill Rowling and myself called
for Open source software to be used and for the database to be
accessible to text based browsers such as Lync and w3m. Well we are very
pleased with how OS has helped in the development, and with Rick's
programming. I had a National Parks person ring me at work last week who
was testing the database and was intereseted in all getting a list of
all caves in NSW wich had reports of particular species of bats in them.

Well Ive raved on too much. Time to surf the web :-)
