Problem is that the Mandrake menu stuff (which keeps menus consistent
across window managers etc) is conflicting with the Gnome stuff you've
set up. You can fix this by going into the Gnome Control Center -
panel/global preferences, click the 'Menu' tab - and change 'Menu
behaviour' from 'Mandrake' to 'Gnome'. Of course the problem with doing
this is that the menus you set up in Gnome will no longer be consistent
if you switch to KDE or whatever. You might also like to look at the
Mandrake menu editor in DrakConf - it might be a tidier way of doing
this.
