Are you interested in directory notification live for say, a file manager,
or a security product to watch changes over time?

Live: Check out fam, which SGI released a while back, and Raster used in
EFM. I've heard it's a PITA from people who've used it - I don't know first
hand. You'll also want to check the directory notification stuff in 2.4,
which (handily enough) Matthew Wilcox will be talking about at linux.conf.au
<URL: http://linux.conf.au/papers/#P15>

Security: Tripwire has recently been released under the GPL, and there's
AIDE, which is a Free Software effort from day one. They'll monitor your
filesystem and alert you to any changes made.

So which answer was the right one? ;)

     She said she loved my mind, though by most accounts I had already
                                  lost it.
