Funny, I was just explaining this on IRC. :)

1. Make sure you have the 'freetype' module loaded in your
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file. In the Modules section, 'Load "freetype"'.

2. Unless you have a specific reason for it, remove your font server. Then,
remove the unix path FontPath - it's a reference to your font server.

3. Add a TrueType directory to your FontPaths (which means making a
directory too, of course). Mine looks like this:

   FontPath "/usr/lib/X11/fonts/TrueType"

   (In the 'Files' section.)

4. Now put your ttf files in the directory, cd to it, and run 'mkfontdir'.
Restart X. If you don't see your TT fonts listed in your apps (try
Mozzy), you'll need to run 'mkttfdir', which may come with a package for
your distro. (mkfontdir *ought* to work.)

If that doesn't work, post the relevant lines of your X log, and tell us
what went wrong. :)
