Err considering the fact that the Aussie dollars has been going
downwards during this time, it is a good thing that it has been going
down. Also, most suppliers have been running down stock during this
time.
Models would help your argument somewhat.
Like LG/Sony/Mitsubishi/??? have 14/15/17/19/?? " sizes and can have up
to five different models in each size.
My last LG was a 995E = 19" @ .26" for $875 in Nov 2000.
Before that it was a 795SC = 17" @ .26" for about $550 in May 2000.
I summarise the LG range as having in each size and in increasing order
of cost;
1 - basic, economical screen
2 - old .28" resolution screen
3 - newer .26" resolution screen
4 - multimedia screen with built in speakers and mike
5 - CAD screen
It seems to be the same for the other brands as well.
This is an example of type 1 pricing (5/12/2000 run out specials)
15" Goldstar 520i/552V ..........................$255 inc GST
15" ACER 54E ....................................$255 inc GST
17" Goldstar 775N .................................$375 inc GST
17" ACER 77C ....................................$375 inc GST
17" Mitsubishi 1770f .............................$375 inc GST
Perhaps it is time we had the guy from Sony Trinitron back for another
talk about screen technology.
