Hey sluggers,
while we are on the adsl topic. I can't get my adsl
to work now i have 2 nics in my debian unstable box.
I have just now tried to get my laptop to connect
to the net thru my linux box.
Diagram is like this:
--------------
|
| _______ADSL Modem _________ Internet
| Linux |

So linux box needed an extra NIC installed in
it.
Note that ADSL was working fine before all this
started.
First NIC is an rtl8139 that worked fine. Second
NIC is also rtl8139 - its actually the SMC from telstra. So now i have installed
second NIC in debian box, the ADSL refuses to connect.
I have altered nothing except edit
/etc/network/interfaces
to include a line that allocates a network address
to eth1
Note that both network cards can be bought up and
down.
Now, how do i tell the pppoe software that i want
it to use eth0 not eth1? they are identical drivers just plugged into different
places.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Dave
