Yep, I stand corrected.
Gnu chown can take '.'
All other (earlier) versions of chown seem to be stuck with ':'
I guess in the interests of sanity, use '.' but in the interests of
portability to other *-ix use ':'
Depends on if the script has to work across a heterogenous network of
machines or not I guess.
