For things that still use xrdb defaults (those in .Xresources or
.Xdefaults), you could try editres. Seems to be part of the
standard distribution.
You'll find that it doesn't do much for most new applications,
such as anything that uses kde or gdk, because they (unlike
athena and motif) don't use X resources. Bah, humbug.
The other tool, of course is the potent combo: {xterm, man, vi}.
