Well, there's good news and bad news with this modem. Good news - there
is a Linux driver for Conexant winmodems (which is what you've got
there). Bad news - very few people have got the driver working
successfully. You can download a copy of the driver from
<http://www.idir.net/~gromitkc/winmodem.html>, also from Olitec at
<http://www.olitec.com/pci56kv2.html> (this page is in French, but may
have a more up to date version of the driver). You'll also want to read
the linmodem HOWTO at
<http://walbran.org/sean/linux/linmodem-howto-all.html>. Off hand, I
can't remember which kernel Red Hat 6.2 comes with, but you'll most
likely have more luck by downloading the 2.2.17 kernel from
<http://www.au.kernel.org> (sorry if that's wrong, the kernel mirrors
seem to be dead at the moment) and compiling it yourself, so there are
no Red Hat specific patches. Then grab the 2.2.17 driver from the Olitec
site and install it. After that, the modem should behave just the same
as a hardware modem and talk to minicom or whatever else you like.
