And here's my mutt tip. This one rocks!
Download lbdb -- apt-get install lbdb on a decent distro :P -- and
install it.
Write a procmail like this:
:0hcE
| /usr/bin/lbdb-fetchaddr
That means, copy the incoming email to the next rule and to this
program. I put it before mailing list filters and after spam filters.
Then put this in your .muttrc:
set query_command="lbdbq %s
Now whenever an email comes in it goes through that fetch thingy which
culls any email addresses and sticks them in a nice fast little
database. To seed it you can pipe all your archived mails through it
to get started real quick.
In mutt you can press Q (capital q) and enter a piece of query text
like "simon" and it'll show you all the matches for what you entered
-- all the Simons you've had correspondence with in the past.
This is SOOO cool. I don't bother maintaining my address book any
more since it's all in lbdb!
lbdb stands for Little Big Brother Database, BTW. It can also be set
up to do ldap querioes, query your Palm address db and a heap of other
cool shit. It's just plain cool!
