Yes.

RMS, Mr. Moglen, and the FSF would be there faster than a time machine. I
can almost guarantee that a few of the Free Software companies would donate
heavily if the case looked like being a 'GPL clincher'. It would be cheaper
for them to make sure the GPL is legally binding than deal with... Can you
imagine the havoc caused if the GPL wasn't proven bulletproof?

Why has there always been such interest and speculation on this very
thought? No one knows for sure.
