The DNS server which acts as a secondary to one of my client's primaries seems to be unable to update properly. The log messages are: Feb 27 06:19:29 keep named[13667]: rcvd NOTIFY(client.com.au, IN, SOA) from [139.139.139.139].1032 Feb 27 06:19:57 keep named[13667]: Err/TO getting serial# for "client.com.au" On the primary it looks to be opening a tcp/53 connection OK, but for some reason it appears that it can't get the serial number to see whether a zone transfer is required. The serial number that is on the primary is 2001022700 and the serial number on the secondary is 2001012501, which should force a zone transfer. On the primary the directory wherein sit the zone files is owned by named, but the zone files are owned by root, but all are world readable. This setup is apparently no different to several other of my clients which are transfering OK.
