Well that'd be an interesting piece of legislation I must say. That'd
have
to make ACA/60secs (except of course that's ninemsn so they wouldn't
have
a bar of running it, perhaps 7 would be interested ;).
Any students of the Law out there able to comment on the implications of
that legal minefield? I'd love to get them over a legal barrel, that'd
make
some headlines.
Just as a general comment on the Open Government Partition, I prefer to
see
the focus move away from advocating / demanding "support" for particular
OS's and move towards demanding that the G'ment use open public
standards
and not proprietry one's in any communications with it's "customers".
I.e don't try and partition them to deliver a linux version because 60 -
6000 -60,000 people are using Linux. Take them head on with the real
issues
which is a) Their technology sucks (they should be able to do the whole
thing server side) and b) They are forcing you to purchase a product
from
a company that you have chosen for ethical reasons not to do business
with
(and for most of us is in fact a competitor to what we do each day to
earn
a buck). Is there a case here of the ATO being in colusion with M$?,
come
on you legal boffins, what's the law's position on forcing a business to
buy and use a competitors product?).
