I bought VMWare before Win4Lin came out. They take different
approaches and VMWare is more flexible, though more expensive and
heavyweight. I get the impression Win4Lin is really fast -- VMWare
isn't. However the big advantage for me is that I can run _ANY_ x86
OS.

I do a lot of professional writing about computers -- generally in the
"how to" realm. I use Windows in VMWare when I have to write about
(and take screen shots of) that crap. It's also really cool for Linux
operating systems. I wrote for an upcoming publication recently about
Debian and was able to take screenshots of the installation process
and make sure my instructions were accurate without trashing my own
system. Really cool!

I've also used it to configure and debug floppy-based distros and to
try out BeOS.
