Michael,

> how do get ppp to "Dail ON DEMAND"?

I gather that ppp can do this now as part of it's options
but I still use diald- (0.99.1-2 works really well).

Basically it setups up a slip interface as the default gateway
on the box. When a packet hits the slip interface diald calls
pppd and makes it the default gateway, dumping the packet out
the ppp interface. Diald has a filter file that controls what
type of packets will cause it to raise the link, and how
long to hold the link up after the last transmission of each
packet. It also has an option to create a .ctl file that a
dialog gui can access so you can watch the trigger points
and time-outs.
