just a reminder to everyone that SLUG is running a "CodeFest"
* this weekend *
at UNSW in building K17.
we start 9am saturday and finish 5pm sunday. yes, that means (most?)
of us will be there all night.
there are talks organised for saturday. unfortunately jeff has the
list we made up and he hasn't let anyone else know whats on it, so its
going to be a surprise ;)
there are going to be less(?) organised / spontaneous talks during the
night and on sunday. in particular, i'd like to have people "briefly
introduce" various programming languages on sunday - we'll see how
much interest there is.
if you get to K17 and find the door locked (it seems security are
attempting to do their job), ring me on 0425 267 575 and i'll let you
in. if the door opens for you, then go around the corner on your right
and up the stairs one level. follow the noise.
its hoped that this becomes a kind of intense group-"extreme
programming" affair. if you can, bring whatever hardware you need and
be prepared to finally get somewhere on that coding project you've
been putting off for months.
hubs, net cables, power boards, etc would also be useful.
a map of UNSW (Kensington) is here:
http://www.unsw.edu.au/about/kenmap.htm
you want the building at grid reference K 17. i'm sure you can work it
out. just to make it interesting, its labelled "geography and
surveying" on the map i'm looking at now. enter from the "garden" on
the west side.
if travelling to UNSW by bus, see
http://notessrv.chan.unsw.edu.au/Faciliti.nsf/83e9f45c11caa9d58525647300561fe6/d2821890ac46bea3ca25691c0017fd3f?OpenDocument
for bus info and times (remember its a weekend, so expresses aren't
running).
parking costs $4/day (iirc). you want to enter by "gate 14" at N15 (on
the map linked to above) and park *on the top two levels* of the
parking station at M18.
