An IMAP server, or client? I'll assume server for now. :)
Have a look at Courier-IMAP <URL: http://www.inter7.com/courierimap/>; I've
been using it for a number of weeks now, and the new versions seem quite
stable, performing well.
Also, you can do a whole lot more with Courier-IMAP than you can with the
standard" daemon, such as shared folders, quotas, etc.
Anyway, it's perky; try it.
