Actually, that might be more the VIA Apollo Pro 133 chipsets which
have known IDE DMA quirks.
But back to the original Linux 2.4.2 question:
There is aparently a known error in the makefiles that prevent
building on newer GNU toolchains. But... you shouldn't be building
2.4.2 without the latest ac patch - stock 2.4.2 wasn't exactly stable
when I tried it - I've had much better results with 2.4.1, and have
heard that people have been getting better results out of the ac
patches.
