I've found that too. One of these days I should delve into the source of one and
find out just what is so stressing about interlaced video.

I think it's anything originally meant for TV is already in an interlaced format
and is encoded as such onto DVD. In my collection that's usually the
behind-the-scenes material or video clips. I've only got one anime DVD that's
from a TV series and that's interlaced. I haven't started my Neon Genesis
Evangelion DVD collection yet... :)

It sounds like your player isn't scaling the image properly.

Yeah, OMS is lagging at the moment compared to things like Xine and Xmovie. But
I guess they've been busy building up the infrastructure for a powerful and
flexible media player rather than rushing out a simple DVD player.

None of the players have subtitle support yet do they? The last I heard, the
format had been (mostly) reverse-engineered. That'd be nice to have. Then the
last feature will be the scripting language that's used to make the menus and
other special features.
