Do you have DGA enabled?
its a setting in XF86Config(-4), and the rpm for it, XFree86-DGA
Try that out and see how you go.

Scott

Subject: [SLUG] VMWare and RH7.0

Hi sluggers,

Having recently decided to upgrade from what was originally RH5.2 to
7.0, I'm now having a problem with VMWare. When I start VMWare I get
this error:

Failed to find frame buffer offset.
XFree86 direct graphics (DGA extension) initialization failed.

I'd original compiled the kernel (2.2.19) without the frame buffer
stuff, so I rebuilt it with them but it made no difference. I've tried
searching VMWare's web site, and done a Google search but nothing useful
has turned up.

Anyone seen this before, or have any idea what might be causing it?

Thanks,

John
