Well, yes, crackers do more than just replace binaries.
I've seen syslog turned off, .bash_history pointing to /dev/null, /etc/motd, 
/etc/issue changed, all sorts of wierd and wonderful things, and if I find the bastard 
that did them, he's going to get more than a piece of my mind.
