Hi,

Until recently I have had Win2K on a 30Gb disk (primary master) and
RedHat linux on a 3Gb disk (secondary master) with a CDROM drive as the
secondary slave. I have been dual booting using the NT Loader, with LILO
installed in the boot sector of the 3Gb disk, not the mbr.

Then I installed a CDRW drive which recommended setting it as the
secondary master. So I made the 3Gb disk the secondary slave. Trying to
boot linux didn't get anywhere (can't remember the error messages).

I ran the RedHat installer again to setup LILO thinking it would work
after that. At the end of the installation I got a warning about
/dev/hdd 'may not be accessible'. Then when trying to boot linux, LILO
gives a repeated "0101010101010101...." on the screen.

However I CAN boot into linux using the boot floppy disk created during
the install. I copied the boot sector like this;

dd if=/dev/hdd1 of=/bootsect.lnx bs=512 count=1

And then put bootsect.lnx in C:\ for the NT Loader, as I had done
originally when the 3Gb disk was hdc1. But still the same "010101...".

Is it possible to boot linux off the secondary slave disk? I assume so
since I can from the floppy. What am I doing wrong?
