Well, I'm on ADSL, and I'm in a Studio Apartment.... is that good
enough? :)

Basically, ADSL can be installed pretty much anywhere as long as
they're within range of a suitable exchange.

Cable services are more difficult - but still doable.  Only telstra
can install cable into commercial premises at the moment - and that
requires authorisation from landlords and body corporates (if
applicable).

My building is wired for Cable, but I would have still required
landlord's approval to get Cable broadband, whereas I was able to get
my ADSL connection without such approval.
