Hey I found a favorite quote.
It's actually Linus quoting Newton so I hope it counts.
In response to a recent MS exec flaming open source etc he says:
"If I have been able to see further, it was only because I stood on the
shoulders of giants".
I think thats a nice summary of how the "viral" nature of the GPL
contributes to the common good.
