The dreaded 'auth' problem.
The ppp daemon basically wants something from the peer that authorises
it to use specified address. Most ISP's will drop the packets asking.
In either /etc/ppp/options, or in diald.options (i can't remember the
path) put on a line by itself 'noauth'
