Sluggers,

When I try and play a .wav file or a .mp3 on my Gateway solo 2100 it
plays but at about half
the correct speed, like a 45 being played at 33.3 for those who
remember record players.
When I run sndconfig I hear the test sound fine and the midi sound ok
but with some crakling
at the start. Reading up on the ESS1888 it claims to be a sound blaster
16 compatible device
and it seems that sb.o is being loaded by modules.conf.

Has anyone else got sound running on a laptop with an ESS1888 sound
card? Did you have
to do anything clever?

I found a cry for help with the same problem using google but couldn't
find any responses.
Also read something about having to change the bufsize down from 64k to
32k in the 2.0
kernel, couldn't really fathom what they were talking about,

Any clue sticks?

Thanks

Pete
