No. Mac Plus's are 68000's with a maximum of 4MBs of RAM, and very
little expansion.
I have one in Canberra with 2.5 MBs of RAM... I run System 6.0.7 on
it, and use it as a Serial terminal [I have a RS422 -> RS232 serial
lead].
I do more realistic stuff on an SE/30 with 8MBs of RAM, and that
machine can run linux, I just don't since I don't have an ethernet
card for it. (and on that note, if you have an SE/30 ethernet card
you're willing to part with or sell...)
You need at least a 68020 with PMMU, or 68030 to run any of the
existing *nix clones.
Apple has the AppleSpec database on their website to help you find out
more about the machine configurations.
