After struggling around finding the error... I found that the kernel made this trouble. I change the kernel to the old kernel configuration 2.4.4 (thx God I still keep it in my LILO) everything work perfectly, as good as before.   This is the exact error I got if I do /etc/rc.d/init.d/network restart:   Bringing up interface eth0: Determining IP information for eth0....Operation failed. Failed                                                                 [FAILED]     Anybody know which configuration in the kernel might prevent DCHP get the ip?     Thank You,     Phillip.
