I've never used mod_auth_pam (reads, I don't know what I'm talking about),
but I think I read some where that normally apache won't be able to
read /etc/shadow, so you can't use pam_unix.so.
Its easy enough to give apache read permission to /etc/shadow,
at least to test the theory, but I wouldn't feel too comfortable
leaving it that way.
