Hi all,
the question I have is for an experiment I am trying for my own curiosity.
I want to setup a server from which a few diskless machines can be connected
to and boot from the network into an X-Windows environment. What is
involved in this project? Are there any step by step sites which you could
recommend to help with this experiment? Is any special hardware required,
or any particular network card?
The machines would all be x86 based and almost under resourced (eg P75-200
with 16-32Mb RAM). From what I have read this would be sufficient for the
"terminals". I come from a microsoft background (and understand the
fundimentals of networking) and have played a little with a few linux
distributions, but need to know more.
Regards,
James.
