Ok, if you are up for a recompile of the kernel here are a couple of minor
things that might help.

I think you should have this set (you have between 1 and 4 Gig of physicl
RAM)

> # IDE chipset support/bugfixes

You can probably change this section so that you have "use dma by default"
activated and you want to activate the chipset specific additions as well.
