Indeed. You have to set up your /etc/nsswitch.conf to pull name service data
out of LDAP. You can tell it's working when 'getent passwd' is returning
sane information. The file should be fairly well self-documented, if you
have any trouble, please ask.
As it happens (really strange, I was just thinking about it), I've been
considering changing my talk this month to a very practical guide to using
LDAP. You might be interested - anyone else?
