Sounds to me that the network card was configured to use DHCP and there is no DHCP server and it takes forever for it to fail..
Have you waited long enough? Something like 5 minutes at most? thanks, George Vieira Network Engineer Citadel Computer Systems P/L -----Original Message----- From: Bernhard Lder [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Sunday, November 04, 2001 4:53 AM To: SLUG user group Subject: [SLUG] Network not coming up Hi, I have just installed RH7.2 on my brand new AMD Athlon 1400 (in addition to W2K I might add). Dual booting works fine. HOWEVER for some reason Linux cannot start the network when booting on the same system, that very happily runs under W2k. I can boot interactively (pressing "I" on startup) and skip the network activation. All works well then (other than network), even X. I have tried 3 different network cards (intel epro100, RTL8139 and Dlink 530TX) all work fine under windows, but no network under Linux for any of them. What do I do?
