Ok. so I sould hunt around for libnss-ldap and install it?
At the moment I have the following packages installed
pam_ldap-133_1
nss_ldap-173-1
they were both from www.padl.com

Sorry I meant libnss-ldap
I think I have nss-ldap configured properly.
