g'day,

is there a plugin for the Gimp to allow it to have _both_
bitmap layers and vector layers? as far as i know, the Gimp
doesn't support vector layers, but i haven't kept up since about
version 1.0.

if the Gimp doesn't support this, is there any other
painting/drawing combo package on Linux which does?

i find this combination to be immeasurably more powerful than a
simple standalone painting program (e.g. Gimp), or a standalone
drawing program (e.g. XFig). if you have no idea what i'm
talking about, think of the Gimp, except that you can have
KIllustrator (errr, Kontour) or XFig-like figures being drawn on a
special 'vector layer'. there's a really old program on the
Macintosh called "SuperDraw" which used to do this. Paint Shop
Pro on Windows does it too.
