Your machine was shutdown without the file systems being unmounted.  You
should be prompted for the root password at this point.

Enter the root password
type 'fsck /dev/hda1' (replace /dev/hda1 with whatever device has been
reported as having error)
Follow all the prompts and reboot (init 6)
Repeat if required

Mail me off list if you still have problems.
