this post prompted me to double check my config, as i thought i saw an fsck happening when the power went down the other night. sure enough, i've got the same issue with mount indicating it's ext3, but proc/mounts indicating ext2. only i've: a) got two ext3 partitions, and the /home one mounts as ext3 properly, but / doesn't b) got two near identical boxes, and on the other, both filesystems mount as ext3 fine. i've checked and / has a .journal, the lines in fstab are identical on both boxes - it's really odd. the second box give me: VFS: Mounted root (ext3 filesystem) readonly. and the first: VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem) readonly. so perhaps it's lost its signature or something. i might drop the journal and recreate it. i'll post if i have any luck. cheers, -- Damien Elmes [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ More Info: http://lists.slug.org.au/listinfo/slug
