I am also wishing to remove my accounting from the dreaded M$ area. I am
currently using Quicken (which does the job adequately)
I have looked at the 'Ledger' project, but it is a bit beyond my limited
accounting abilities. (However there are some Aussie businesses using this
package, so it must be useable with 'the accounting system we had to have (&
allegedly voted for - youve got to be kidding- however I digress) What is
required is a package similar to the ilk of Quicken & MYOB, that has the
Aussie tax system enabled. (This would also suit the canadians, & others, who
have a similar system.)
I havent had a look at the Ledger project for awhile, so may visit it on
Sourceforge.
Merry Xmas & HNY, Doug

This is the info on <http://sourceforge.net/projects/sql-ledger/>
There is also: <http://sourceforge.net/projects/kbooks/> which I havent
looked at yet.

What we need is a project to pull parts of the accounting programs/projects
on sourceforge, and either create a new GST freindly package, or add to an
existing one.
Having an easy to use package, free, on Linux, would mean that a lot of
small businesses would be able to be M$-free. If we then linked it with a
training programme through groups like 'ACE', we would have the possibility
of increasing the user base. (Most of the other tools are already available)
regards Doug
